She used to be a backup singer for other artists like Brenda Fassie and Rebecca Malope.
She was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa and spent the early years of her life there before relocating to Johannesburg.
Nokwazi lost interest in education at a very early age and dropped out of schooling. 
Her music career was initiated by Sizwe Zakho in 1996 who noticed her vocal talent and introduced her to Rebecca Malope.
She eventually became Rebecca Malope’s backing vocalist and appeared as a vixen in some of her music videos.

Nokwazi is reportedly married with four children. She is not biologically related to Heavy K as opposing public beliefs, and they're just friends.
