Recall that the embattled Senator Okorocha had during his 8-year tenure in office, sacked two deputy governors. The first, Sir Jude Agbaso was sacked after being accused of accepting receiving a ₦458 million bribe from a contractor, Joseph Dina engaged by the state government to construct the Sam Mbakwe road in Owerri, the state capital.
Agbaso's impeachment was recently nullified by a State High Court sitting in Owerri on March 28, 2013, by Justice S.I Opara. According to him (Justice S.I Opara), the process that led to the impeachment of the former deputy governor was unconstitutional, null, and void as due process was not followed.
Sen Okorocha's second Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere was impeached by the House of Assembly on July 31, 2018. An Imo High Court sitting in Owerri and presided over by Justice Benjamin Iheaka, however, declared the impeachment invalid and of no effect.
