Umeadi Vs Uzodinma: Could Ihedioha Be Returning Back To The Government House?

Following the recent suit filed at the Supreme Court by Chief Philip Umeadi (SAN), one can boldly argue the immediate past governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha still has the chances of returning back to the Government House. The suit which the plaintiff filed against Governor Hope Uzodinma is seeking amongst other things, the removal of Governor Hope Uzodinma from office as the Governor of Imo State, and the return of Emeka Ihedioha as the Executive Governor of the state.

The plaintiff alleged that following the judgement of the same Supreme Court which declared Uche Nwosu the duly nominated candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the disqualification of the same Uche Nwosu by the same Supreme Court for having the nomination of two different political parties, the APC ought to have no candidate for the Imo State Governorship Election.

The Supreme Court had given a ruling, declaring Uche Nwosu, as the authentic candidate of both the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as the Action Alliance (AA), in the 2019 General Elections.

By that ruling, it appears that Hope Uzodinma, who was later declared as the winner of the election, in one of the most controversial rulings in Nigeria’s history, actually doesn't belong to any political party.

Kindly recall that Emeka Ihedioha, who was declared the winner of the March 2019 Imo State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was on January 14th, 2020 removed by the Supreme Court after the Apex Court declared Senator Hope Uzodinma winner of the election.

With the information that date will soon be set for the hearing, Uche Nwosu may have succeeded in making the case come up, and there are high chances, that Hope Uzodinma may be shown the way out, while Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, may soon be on his way back to Douglas House.
