Gov Uzodinma’s Aide Reveals Reason For Sen Okorocha’s Silence Over His Arrest By EFCC
April 17, 2021Mr. Modestus Nwankpa, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Print Media has revealed the reason Senator Rochas Okorocha has remained silent since his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC. According to Nwamkpa, the ex-Governor who is currently serving as a Senator representing Orlu zone promised to comport himself before he was allowed to go.
Sen Okorocha who is known for speaking out has surprisingly been very quiet over his arrest by the anti-graft agency.
Mr Nwamkpa further revealed that a serving South-South Governor, a Northern Emir, and a former Senator, stood in as Okorocha’s sureties before the EFCC released him.
Recall that Okorocha was arrested by EFCC operatives in Abuja on Tuesday. He was released on Thursday after spending two nights in the custody of the anti-graft commission.
Modestus Nwamkpa stated that the EFCC extracted assurances from Okorocha that he would not misbehave at the time being before he was granted bail.
He added that Okorocha cried out to some of his friends across the country, immediately he was arrested for assistance.
His friends according to Nwamkpa, pleaded with the anti-graft agency to allow him to go based on his health condition, claiming that the former governor was on medications.
Nwamkpa further stated that the indefinite strike, of the Judiciary staff Union of Nigeria ( JUSUN) workers, over their demand for autonomy for the Judiciary, hindered Okorocha’s arraignment would prolong his stay in EFCC custody.
So as not to infringe on his fundamental human right, as there is a stipulated time that EFCC can constitutionally hold a suspect, Okorocha’s bail was granted.
Nwamkpa stated that once the JUSUN strike was over, Okorocha would most likely be arraigned before a court.
