Imo State: Gov Hope Uzodinma Withdraws Civil Servants’ Buses
May 02, 2021Hope Uzodinma, the executive governor of Imo State has ordered the withdrawal of the buses, he distributed for the transportation of civil servants in the state. He had earlier distributed the luxury buses to help convey civil servants in the state, to and from work, while about ₦3000 was deducted fr their salaries for the service.
Many civil servants had condemned the action, stating that not every civil servant used the buses, as some of them live in areas, the buses did not operate.
Their rejection of the policy however fell on deaf ears, as Uzodinma went ahead with the bus programme, as well as deducting part of the workers' salaries for the programme.
In a circular that was made available to Verbatim News yesterday, we were informed that the governor had ordered the withdrawal of the buses till further notice.
While no reason was given for the directive, we learned the drivers were instructed to take the buses to the State Secretariat and drop them there.
