‘IPOB Not Responsible For Attacks On Security Formations’ - Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu
May 20, 2021Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has faulted claims that the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB) was responsible for attacks on the Headquarters of Correctional Centre and the Police Headquarters in Imo State. The elder statesman made the clarification yesterday, at his Orji glass house office, Owerri shortly after being honoured as the ‘Mayegun “by the executive of Oodua Youth Parliament, said the Federal Government is not serious in fighting insecurity and we are not fools.
In his own words; ”I can’t believe that government is sincere in fighting insecurity in Nigeria, I do not also believe IPOB is responsible for series of attacks on security formations. I suspect some people may be trying to cause trouble in our states. Infact, Information from what some of the inmates said that the attackers were not speaking Igbo language it is glaring that something is fishing,”
He also queried how security formations in Owerri were attacked and there was no single shot from the security personnel or anybody killed on the day of the incident.
He blamed the attacks recorded in the state and in the South-East zone, on people he described as foreigners, whose intention was to destroy the zone.
While speaking on the activities of herdsmen in Igbo land, Chief Iwuanyanwu said the Igbos had lived in peace with herdsmen for so many years and yet had not seen where cattle rearers carried AK47 rifles about.
He said Boko Haram is the major problem facing the country, calling on Nigeria Intelligent Service to tell Nigerians how it all started.
On his award, Chief Iwuanyanwu appreciated the Oodua Youth Parliament, on the honour done him and promised to reciprocate by offering his usual assistance to them and the youths of the nation.
He stressed the need for the youth in the south to follow the recent steps taken by the Southern Governors to come together as youth to chart a common front.
