November 29, 2021Lucky Philip Dube was a South African superstar reggae musician and Rastafarian. He is popular for his songs which mainly center around love and humanity, and recorded 22 albums in Zulu, English, and Afrikaans in a 25-year period.
Born on the 3rd of August, 1964 in Ermelo, South Africa, Lucky Dube was South Africa's biggest-selling reggae artist.
He died on the 18th of October, 2007 in Rosettenville, Johannesburg South, South Africa at 43 years of age.
According to reports, Lucky was shot dead by armed robbers after dropping off two of his three children at an uncle's house.
He was driving his Chrysler 300C, which the assailants were after. Reports also said that the assailants didn't recognise him, and thought he was a Nigerian.
Five men were arrested in relation to the crime, but two were released while three of them were found responsible and were convicted on the 31st of March, 2009.
They were eventually sentenced to live imprisonment.
