Born on the 19th of August, 1965, Augustine Eguavoen (Austin Eguavoen) is a Nigerian football player (former) and football manager.
He currently serves as manager of the Nigeria national team.
Talking about his career, Augustine began his life as a footballer with ACB Lagos. He joined Belgian football club, Gent in 1986 and was a member of the Nigeria national team squad that qualified for the country's first-ever World Cup in 1994.
They also won the African Nations Cup in the same year.
Augustine Eguavoen began his coaching career in Malta with Sliema Wanderers and in June 2005, he was appointed the caretaker coach of the Nigeria national team.
He has also served as head coach at Enyimba International in Aba.
On the 12th of December 2021, Augustine Eguavoen was appointed manager of Nigeria on an interim basis for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, following the departure of Gernot Rohr.
