Early Life

Nelson Havi was born on April 5th, 1977 in Mwihila Mission Hospital in Old Kakamega, Kenya. He was raised by his mother, Grace Obwamo who is currently a retired teacher.

He is the second child of the family.

He lost his father to the gunshot at a very tender age, when he was in form one. The death was a result of the 1992 post-election violence. This experience would later lead him into deciding to pursue a career in law.

He was quite an outstanding student whose brightness earned him the affection of his teachers.

After High School, Nelson Havi went on to study at the University of Nairobi where he pursued and earned a Bachelor of law degree.

Career

Nelson Havi's motivation to become a lawyer came from experiencing his father die from a gunshot in the 1992 post-election violence in the country. 

After he had completed his law degree, he landed a job in a law firm and he would later work for some more firms before deciding to establish his firm which he called 'Havi & Company Advocates.'

In his firm, he offers various services ranging from debt collection, corporate finance advisory, intellectual property rights, arbitration, and commercial litigation.

He later joined the Law Society of Kenya with the determination to become the president of the society one day. He is currently the society's 49th president - a position he won on the 27th of February, 2020.

Nelson Havi is currently having a thriving career and a happy marriage which has produced three children; two sons and a daughter.

On September 19th, 2020, he was initiated into the Maragoli council of elders, Omwimili wa Balagoli. Also, he has been met by people of his hometown who trust in his leadership, suggesting he considers taking a path in politics. However, Nelson Havi is yet to comment on this.
