Also, he co-produced Beyonce's Keys to the Kingdom,' Off the Lion King: The Gift album that featured Mr. Eazi and Tiwa Savage.

Early life

Ezra Onozutua (Northboi) is a young Nigerian from Northern Nigeria, Kogi State.

He was born and raised in Kano, Nigeria, where he grew up with his family before moving at the age of 12. He has since lived in places such as Jos, Abuja, Maiduguri, Bauchi, and Sokoto as well as a few other cities in Nigeria.

It is believed to have come from the fact that he has lived in different Northern parts of Nigeria.

Career

Ezra Onozutua aka Northboi is believed to have started making music at the age of five even though we would say, 'discovering his passion for music' at five is closer to the truth.

It wasn't until his late teens that he completely accepted it as a career he wanted to pursue, professionally ventured into the music industry, and began his professional production in 2015 at the age of 22 after his first year in the university.

However, before Northboi began his professional production, he was said to have been drumming on tables in his class while his friends cheered him because they were always impressed.

One time, a friend revealed he could make beats with a software. He would doubt that for some time until his friend started making some with the software. 

His parents never supported the idea of going into the music industry at first. They just wanted him to get good grades.

However, in 2015, he had a misunderstanding with his father and so he moved to Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria, to live with his elder brother during holidays.

In 2016, he dropped out of school in his third year and moved to Lagos to professionally focus on his music production career.

He rented a studio in Ikeja from where he moved to a studio in Agungi, Lekki, and then Laokwe. 

Northboi has been doing great since then. He contributed to the competition 'Kill My Beat' organized by Frizzle and Nozzle Films in January 2018 where he came third and turned down the prize because he felt he produced better than the winner.

The story of his fame could be said to have begun after he privately reached out to Ceeza Milli on Social Media. They would later link up and then produce the record, 'Konfidential Love.'

Later, he produced the Soco music which he shared with Ceeza Milli through which it got to Wizkid. Wizkid loved the beat, linked up with him and Soco became a big hit in Nigeria and beyond in 2018.

The duo has produced more hit records like Joro, Fever, and Gucci Snake.

Sadly, their relationship hit a low after he revealed Wizkid's reluctance to pay him for his beats in an interview. 

However, Northboi has worked with more top artists like Mayorkun, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Beyonce.

In April 2020, Northboi released his debut album which had no vocals, only instrumentals, and he titled it 'Spirit Business.'
